| whats so ill about me is that i came up in the golden era.nobody was rich.we all was broke and we made best out of what we had. niggas wasnt "ballin",nobody had all the fly jewels, spaceship cars and all that but we had each other.i was born in the atl but i grew up in new york in the late 70's early 80's.i remember going down on 42nd to see my first movie "the warriors". we use to go to the bronx zoo in the summer, get on the ferry to bearmountain. we had our lil' adidas windbreaker shit on, niggas would be break dancing plus we got to kick it to all the wavy puerto rican chics. those was good times man.hip hop was the soundtrack to all that.i stayed wit a radio.i use to go to sleep with the radio on wbls or 98.7kiss. the music would be embeded in my dreams! my favorite artists was like asford and simpson,LTD,hall and oates, stacy lattisaw, ojays, hiroshima, stephanie mills, pendergass, benson, force md's,sade, alexander oneil, shit i even like colonel abrams.that colonel abrams shit was on every time we went to jamaica avenue! i went to my first concert in 87'.the shit was crazy! krs one, jungle brothers, red alert, mc lite, stetsasonic, just ice, supa lova cee and casanova rudd, audio two doing "top billin"! and they some big swollen body guard on stage wit em! i was at the freshfest at the nassau coliseum before that but i was just in the parking lot. my first tape i ever brought was public enemy"yo,bumrush the show!" that was 1987.that shit was crak! i read the credits on the tape and thats when i found out that there studio was in hempstead. i useto go there everyday and stand outside hoping i would see chuck d or flav. i use to see hank and keith shocklee come thru.chuck d would come thru in his bronco and talk to me and my brother outside all the time. the first time i met flav was at white castle's.me and me brother went there like 2 in the morning and flavor flav was there wit charlie brown. flav was cool as hell. he brought us all mad food and he invited us to come to the studio with him! that was my first time ever going inside the studio.flav let us hear new songs plus he showed us how to make beats on the mpc. that nite i realized i can do this. i came back to 510 a week later and paid 40 dollars for 2 hours in the studio downstairs from chuck d's studio and i made my first beat. i took it to school the next day and niggas went crazy. everybody wanted to rhyme on it. thats when i started making beats. years later i got into boxing and had a few amateur fights. i never seen me with a career in boxing but i liked the training. i started getting it in hardbody in the streets. i got caught with a ratchet and some stolen property and i did some time in prison upstate.when i came home i got back to my music and now i has my own studio. |
