| I started out with a little project called Xarnt which was a techno project but it really was just me learning what different things did in a program I use called Fruity Loops Studio 6, 7, and 8 XXL. I eventually started to slow down the music after coming up with a slow piano riff while sitting upstairs on a rainy day. I brought it down to my computer and set it up to sound more electronic but still like a piano and that is where Theta began. I stopped creating fast riffs and began working out my slow guitar riffs onto the program and creating some nice sounding pieces (in my opinion). I started out with the album Sequence which includes one song "Winter" which was actually used by one of my dad's friends for a directing project which was submitted to some contest in order to win... I think it was $50,000 and a contract, or something similar. The video did not win, and unfortunately at the time the song was listed as being by a band that I wanted to create called Primordial Decay which only consisted of me and another friend who had yet to actually buy a drum kit, so that idea was scrapped almost instantly after the video was released. So I really have no idea if the song actually was enjoyed by people or not. Another song on this album is End [Beginning] (Quantum Polarity) which was actually a song I called My Derogative which was included at the end of a song I made for the end of my first Xarnt album "6 O' Clock Speedway" and the song was called Off Ramp, relating to yes... the part of a highway that you get off on. The symbolism was that you slow down after getting off the highway and that is why the song was so slow. Off-Ramp on it's own lasted about 2 minutes but I added 4 minutes of silence and then brought in the song My Derogative which was kind of me saying that I was not continuing with the project anymore and am moving on to do what I enjoy more. The song was renamed to be the first song on my album Sequence, and it suits as a good intro to represent what will be heard. Now, the first album is very "experimental" since I was trying to look for that 'sound' artist's try to find when they want to define their style and there were hits and misses with some very non-technical music, but some songs that still sounded good nonetheless. I finished Sequence as of October 2006 with 14 tracks. My next album which I started before actually finishing Sequence was Oceanic. I created an underwater sounding song which I named Oceanic, but I didn't really think that it suited the Sequence album in anyway. I named the song Oceanic and it became the intro to a new album which also consisted of 14 songs. I actually started the 14 song theme with the 2 Xarnt albums I made, "6 O' Clock Speedway" and "Cosine - No Sine", and continued it with all 4 of my current Theta albums. Oceanic included less songs created strictly from guitar riffs I had already created at a previous time, and more riffs created on piano. I also used a couple new influences. One influence was from an old PC game called "The 7th Guest" and it's sequel "The 11th Hour", which most people would not have probably known unless they were a computer geek, or lived with a computer geek in around 1994/1995. Another thing about Oceanic was that I had started listening to more of the Classical pianists of the 1700 etc. which gave me more of an inspiration to create that style of music in a modern format. Unfortunately, I have never taken a single piano lesson in my life so I am going by the theory I know on guitar to actually create all of these songs. That is also why I create some of the riffs on guitar and then recreate them on the piano to make them sound "better" in my opinion. The album Oceanic was finished somewhere around May of 2007. With the third album called "Mind Less" I had yet again started it before finishing my second album because I tend to have new inspirations given what music I am listening to. Mind Less was an album entirely based on my fears and emotions. Unfortunately that leaves me in a vulnerable position when anybody looks up what each title of the song means because all 14 songs are named after phobias. For example, "Decidophobia" which is probably the best song on the album is the fear of making decisions. I don't really have decidophobia, but decision making is a very difficult thing for me to actually do without feeling that I am missing out if I don't pick option 2 or 3 or 4 etc. This album was somewhat inspired by the Silent Hill series, especially the very last song because when I created that riff and altered one of the Oscillators I created a sound that is very close to that of a sound effect from the third game's trailer on Gamespot and IGN etc. I also finished Mind Less around February or March of 2008. The current project which is nearing completion is my album Snowscape. I currently have finished 11 of the 14 songs and have been working less on the music because of work and the fact that I lost a little bit of inspiration and enthusiasm since I wasn't really receiving any praise for the music I was creating. Then again, the only website that actually contains about 36 of my so-far 53 songs is www.newgrounds.com. Many of the people on the website are young, immature and well, the usual music for the site is Rap, Heavy Rock or Metal and Techno. Ambient music isn't generally widely accepted in their community. Also the fact that Newgrounds is mostly for Flash videos and not music would cause for another issue when regarding to poor reviews or votes. The picture currently uploaded as the display picture is for the album I am going to start working on possibly now, or when I am done Snowscape and that is Essence. I am sure that this wall of text will detract many people from reading, but for the curiosity of possible "fans" I would like to share anything about my inspirations, musical insight etc. to keep close connections with the people that actually enjoy my music. |
