...Then Came the News

BIO

...Then Came the News is a two piece band from Ortonville, MI that usually resides in the Grand Rapids area. The outfit consists of Tom Gunnels on the guitar and Dan Rickabus playing handdrums and singing (both members also add a plethora of other random instruments to the mix as well). Additional special guests have joined the band for certain songs such as Josie Goldberg, Doug Dorda, Jeff Hughes and others. Influenced by a vast spectrum of musical styles and cultures, they play acoustic music that breathes shades of the rock, alternative, folk, blues, tribal, and experimental genres. Each song conveys a story from a different setting, utilizing characters and themes, and attempts to transport the listener to another time and/or place. They're first full length record "Of Words and War" has recently been released. It features 14 songs, ranging in duration from 2 minutes, to 12 minutes. When performing, the two produce an energetic, personable and entertaining live show.
