BIO
Mister J Born Richard Jimenez in Manhattan, NYC on November 3, 1978 to father, Ricardo Jimenez and mother, Indera Haridas.

Both of my parents hailed from South America, my mother from Guyana, the father from Ecuador. I grew up mostly with my mother and her side of the family, since my father was rarely around. He had a drug and alcohol problem and never made an effort to reform. Nevertheless, I grew up amongst people who loved and nurtured me. I always had a love for music since very young, and had a knack for imitating songs I liked. Years later, at the age of 13, a new influence caught my ear. I always knew it was around, but I had no idea how much of an impact it was going to make on me. HIP-HOP.

I was quite taken with it. For the next couple of years, artists like LL Cool J, Nas, Ice Cube, Dre and Snoop, Salt N Pepa, Queen Latifah, just to name a few, had an incredible impact on Mr. J’s early days. They were my companions as my parents moved me from place to place. From New York, to New Jersey, to North Carolina, to Baltimore, DC, Virginia, Chicago Heights, Indiana, and finally, Florida. From the early 90’s listening to Das EFX and Black Sheep, to the late 90’s listening to Mobb Deep and the Wu-Tang Clan. In ’97, going on 19 years of age, I made the decision to start the road to glory, and try to become a mainstream hip-hop artist...

I felt like the first 3 years was straight up practice & I REALLY started trying when I was about 21 with my cousin Passion.

My love for the genre is intense. People mastering wordplay, cleverly constructing beats from virtually anything... it was incredible. My playlist expanded with each passing year, so that when I decided what I wanted to do, I didn’t feel too much like a fresh fish. My teachers were all the artists I admired so much. I really started at 21, and almost a decade later... Hundreds of songs created. Solos, group songs, duets, collaborations with different types of artists. And they were all different styles, from street music, to hip-hop love ballads, to songs full of anger, to just having fun. Any performances I was a part of, I always stood apart from the rest, capturing the crowd with melodic beats and excellent lyrical delivery. I've performed many times in Orlando, FL at the AKA Lounge, Club Screamers, and The Club at Firestone for several different events. I also won 5 weeks in a row at a performance competition at Club Melao’s by University of Florida. I've also graced stages in Tampa, Melbourne, Daytona and Jacksonville. For years, I tried to do things on my own with only the help of my cousin (Passion). Without management assisting, it is extremely difficult to try to do everything. But we still worked hard over the years. More shows, more recognition, mixtapes put out, spots on other mixtapes, incredible networking opportunities, and many demos to many people.

Crazy few years. Ups, downs, good times & BAD. MUCH EXPERIENCE... (MUCH)
2008. Mr. J, and with him Passion, E-Lyricis, John Street begin anew... again. (BLANCO, WHERE U AT???) Currently, I sided with my cousin Passion who runs BRIGADE MUSIC. Mister J has also worked out an agreement with 135 ENTERTAINMENT, run by my long time friend Joe Priceless. I'm an established artist & producer. I've produced for a lot of underground talent in Florida and abroad. Well rounded, experienced, and ready for anything, it is time I joined the ranks of those I admired. --END

Mr. J’s Music Mixtape Promo BREAKDOWN
WELCOME TO MY PROMO (intro) – Pretty much, that’s what it is. “Welcome”. Just explaining that what you’ll be hearing is a compilation from every source imaginable, with no restrictions. If I thought I could use it, I did. The instrumental was produced by Passion for War Drum Productions as a remix to Prodigy’s “Keep It Thoro”. You can hear his vocals in the background. It ends with a clip from “The Dark Knight”, where Joker says, “we are tonight’s entertainment”.

THIS IS HIP-HOP rmx – Beginning with a quote from veteran Ice-T stating, “you’re garbage…hip-hop has to last forever”. That quote is pretty much directed at all the shitty rappers with no talent. My lyrics just paint a picture of the “hip-hop” game in shambles, full of wannabe’s, copycats clawing for fame, people not knowing the roots of the culture, the effects on our children, the media glamorization & how true good music never gets a chance. Joell Ortiz on the 2nd verse because he rocks… and it’s his song.

SUMMERTIME rmx – Taking a moment to reflect on the summer & everything about it. Kids out of school, pool parties, BBQs, dressing less… good times. Starting on a broad view of the season & narrowing it down to a house party. Sublime’s song & they sing the hook.

BUSSIT BEBE int – I start here by taking another stab at wackness (What’s with Plies & other rappers BARELY pronouncing words??), then… I take it to the club?? Yeah, I went there… the club, that is on the “A Milli” beat. Nothing too lyrical or lengthy & I get to the point quick. It ends with Akon saying, “I don’t care what nobody say, I’ma be me” & Bernie Mac (RIP) saying, “I ain’t scared of you mutha fuckas!”. Cause really, everyone else says what the Hell they want & no one stops them. Everyone else keeps it “real” & so I WILL TOO. “I ain’t scared of you mutha fuckas!”.

(interlude)/YOU – This starts with Al Green’s “If Loving You Is Wrong”. It sets the pace & mood for the actual song, because the song is based on failed relationships. The song itself, YOU, tells 3 different stories, for 3 different girls that I’ve crossed paths with in the past. Each verse starts with meeting them & ends with us parting ways. I heard the Sinatra song & was immediately inspired to write this. I sampled him singing the hook as well, because it fit perfect. This song is close to me because it’s all real. This is my original production, not an industry beat.

THE KWEST MIX – This is a medley of Kanye’s first 3 singles off his “Graduation” album. The first verse is for “Can’t Tell Me Nothing”. I’m just stating how everyone’s got their opinions & how they try to steer me into what they think I should be. I’m not listening to you, I got my plans & I’m following through with them, however long it may take. Then I sang his hook like he did, because it sums up what I was going for, “wait till I get my money right… then you can’t tell me nothing, right?”. The second verse is for “Stronger”. This is just based heavily on the fact that whatever doesn’t kill you, DOES make you stronger. Through years of empty promises & disappointments, I’ll never lose sight of my goals & I will reach them, come Hell or highwater. I rapped the hook like him on this one, as well. The third verse is for “Good Life”. I paint a picture of what my life would be like when I finally have the good life that I strive for. It means a lot to people who work so hard all their life & finally make it & if I keep that vision while I continue to work hard, I’ll get there. I sing the end with T-Pain.

BLAME ME/(interlude) – When Akon made his song, I was really inspired to redo it. I’ve done a lot of bad things & made mistakes & as an adult, I have a certain responsibility to man up, take the blame & ask for forgiveness. It’s OK to admit you’re wrong. So, this was mostly for my friends & family. I love them & this is to let them know, I’m not above apologizing when I mess up. The interlude at the end is just a quick 16 bar verse stating my adamant love for hip-hop & how its hard for people to simply grasp that & my disdain for the current condition of a culture that was created to uplift & make people conscious. This interlude is my original production.

MAYBE I’M WRONG (outro) – This beat is produced by Passion for War Drum Productions. It’s just a sample of Ice-T stating that maybe he’s wrong for his brash comments on the status of hip-hop & insulting the wack rappers. I feel the same way he does, that’s why I used this. I then say to catch me online at www.myspace.com/mrjthewind & www.ursession.com/mrjthewind. Search for me on Facebook, too. Ice-T then states his opinion, that “you’re garbage”, which I agree with 100%. It ends with my daughter’s Leapfrog toy spelling M-R-J-T-H-E-W-I-N-D. Peace.

Mixtape coming soon…
