Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and raised in the cities of Central Florida, Killah Kelz took her first jabs at being a rapper at the young age of thirteen, after discovering her talent for writing lyrics. Her name was given to her by one of her high school teachers, after he overheard her rapping with some other students near his classroom, and was astound when noticing the metaphoric word play coming out of the young girl's mouth. Though she also does club bangers and story patterned music, she decided to keep the name her high school peers were so used to calling her for four years.
At the age of 17, Kelz made her own recording studio and quickly learned how to engineer music herself, thus had her first mixtape out on the streets within a matter of weeks, for she had composition books filled with rhymes before she started recording. Not only did she compose, engineer, and promote her own music at a young age, but she also helped other talented local artists who were driven by the same hunger. She was quickly noticed by hip hop fans in many Central Florida cities. Her flow, voice, and lyrics captivated all who heard her. It was her versatile and unique style that grabbed many people's attention.
By 18, Killah was performing at night clubs every chance she got. Not only in Orlando and Kissimmee, but also in Miami where she says she always feels a stronger energy from her audience. Because of this young female emcee's hunger for fame, she's gotten offered several record deals, but ironically turned them down. When asked why, she stated that she felt the deals would not have had her successfully secure. "Killah is a very talented artist who I admire. It's her persistences and consistency for what she loves to do that makes me wish nothing but much success to her." Stated upcoming radio personality "Juicie", when asked about the female emcee.
Today, Kelz is still working on achieving her goal as a successful female rapper and waiting for the right record deal to come her way. She has also started making her own beats, and even though she is still underground, Killah is constantly coming out with hits, and has the attention of A&Rs. It is obvious that the dreams of this future entrepreneur, may very well come true. |
