| Jason Christopher Pigg (J. Pigg) was born in Santa Rosa, Ca and was introduced to music at a very young age by his father, Earnest Pigg. He began playing music at the young age of 9, playing lead drum in the school’s band for 5 years. Soon thereafter, Jason began recording songs on a karaoke machine with his younger brother, whom would produce songs playing live instruments. The influence from his father and his love for old 70's funk led Jason to enjoy writing to songs with live instrumentation. This also developed his ear for music and harmony which is evident in many of his hooks. By age 19, he had hooked up with Bay Area producer Steve Gordon and began recording his first solo album in San Francisco, CA at the former DJ Academy.
After high school Jason left to Chico, Ca to start college at California University of Chico. While working on his first solo album he managed to graduate with a B.A. degree in Communications with an Option in Human Speech. During his time away at college he met artists Kevin Hoganson (I2k), Brenton Lee (B-Lee), and Joe Cissney (DJ MARVEL) at which time they formed the group The Hooliganz. Since they began working together in 2004 The Hooliganz have become the #1 hip-hop group in Butte County, winning the local Cammy Award for Best Hip-Hop group 2 years in a row.
After graduating from Chico State in 2005 with a degree in Communications, Jason went full force with his music releasing his first solo album “Brief History” in March of 2006, selling 3000 units independently. Recently The Hooliganz were awarded with The Best of Chico Music Act for 2007, sponsored by Chico News & Review. In March of 2007 J.Pigg and The Hooliganz dropped the #1 requested song on 98.7 fm Chico and 94.7 fm Redding with over 700 spins called Stevie Wonder.
Jason’s first solo album, “Brief History”, caught the attention of radio DJ’s Budman & Booger from 102.5 fm in Sacramento, who shortly thereafter asked the Northern California artist to record an intro for their weekly night show. The success of this one-minute thiry second intro led J. Knight of 102.5 fm to ask for an intro as well for his new night show. J.Pigg’s follow up to his smash hit “Stevie Wonder” was entitled “Obvious” which has had the airwaves buzzing since its release. Obvious won the 707 showdown on 98.7fm in Santa Rosa, Ca. in which contestants send in music and listeners call in and vote on the best song.
With the positive reaction from fans about his stage presence, his unique ability to make good, real music, and a personality to match, Jason is looking forward to a very successful 2008. His sophomore album entitled 'Advent Musik' is scheduled to be released in January of 08' and he has created quite a stir with what fans have heard thus far. Needless to say, he is a raw new talent to be reckoned with. |

Too many to name, so a lot of 70's funk, I'm an 80's baby so a little of that, Blues, and Rock. Top influences would be Earth Wind and Fire, and Outkast.
