| The band “It’s Not Over” was founded in October of 2006 by guitarist/vocalist, Mike Giordano, and drummer, Matt Cabello in Staten Island, New York. They spent most of their afternoons, after school, writing and playing their instruments, instead of doing their homework. When they had a full set of songs, they added Gabe Ramirez, on bass, into the band. The Pop/Punk/Alternative Rock trio, sometimes compared to the sounds of Green Day, The Offspring, Blink 182, and Cheap Trick, began to play shows in mid-December and were accepted well by the crowd who seemed to enjoy the melodic song writing and energetic performance of “It’s Not Over.” Soon thereafter, the band was asked to perform on the New York TV show “New York Rocks” which aired in February and March of 2007. This opportunity gave them the chance to meet many new people including: Liberty Devito, Billy Joel’s drummer, and gave the bank insight on what the entertainment industry was like. Then the band took another step forward and sent their song “Need Any Help” to the UCLA College radio station. The song was picked up by radio host DJ Octoon, who took a strong liking to the song. After playing it for a few weeks, the song became a favorite on the Sunday night show as they received numerous requests for the song. As a result, “It’s Not Over” was asked to go to the radio station for an interview and live performance. However, because the band did not have the money to support a trip to California, “It’s Not Over” was interviewed over the phone from New York. In April of 2007, “It’s Not Over” was approached, after a performance, by Brewer Shettles, owner of a small record label Liquid Fusion Records, and was asked to sign a non-exclusive contract so they could record and promote the band. Some of the successes in 2007 include: a top 10 charter on ubl.com, and receiving numerous awards on garageband.com for the songs “Need Any Help” (Track of the Day, Best Melody in Pop/Punk) and “Wanna Be With You Girl” (Track of the Day, Best Mood, and Most Original). “It’s Not Over” is ready for the next step and hopes to continue to do what they love, entertain people and express themselves through music. |
