| Emcee/Producer GC (aka Edmund Arevalo) was born in the Philippines at the dawn of the hip-hop 80’s. In constant motion since he was a kid, GC traveled non-stop between the Philippines and the U.S., the dust never setting long enough to put down roots. Well out of the main stream, GC embraced hip-hop as a way of life and survival strategy, organically applying his street smarts to his musical vision in the studio. His innate ability to articulate his particular experience of cultural disenfranchisement as a hip hop prose and groove set the stage. His decidedly original voice now in the current of the gathering storm of the Fil Am hip hop movement, GC falls in que with Roscoe Umali, BAMBU, Sevenes Kiwi and the other emerging Fil Am hip hop emcees who are a cut above the rest. Cutting his teeth in the thriving scene in L.A. and Long Beach, GC has materialize as the new face of Fil Am hip hop, slanging mixtapes and playing dates at some of Southern California’s most coveted venues from The Mint in LA Club Friction in Garden Grove to the Hypnotic Lounge in Glendale, Zentro Bistro in Cerritos Bleu Garden Grove, Zanzibar in Santa Monica GC has covered a lot of ground fast. With an eclectic array of influences ranging from Jay-z, Dr.Dre, Diddy, Russell Simmons, Biggie, Tupac Chad Hugo to Santana, GC illuminates the inner landscape of a discernibly remarkable new artist. It’s certified official; GC is now in the game. |
