Not many emcees are able to excel on the poetry scene, and even fewer poets are able to emcee. However, not only is GaKnew Roxwel a National Poetry Slam Champion, he is also one of the lead emcees for the once regarded best band in Los Angeles, FRESH CITY. GaKnew is the only emcee/poet to ever hold the title of Grand Slam Poetry Champion twice at one of the Nation’s largest weekly poetry venues, Da Poetry Lounge. He has also appeared on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, and featured in the LosAngeles Times along with his wife, Thea Monyee’. Needless to say, this emcee’s lyrics are potent enough to move the crowd without the swing of a trunk knocking hiphop track. But wait! Not only is he known for bringing the rhymes, Roxwel is also responsible for FRESH CITY’s sound. A producer/ emcee/ poet, GaKnew Roxwel is a visionary to say the least.
