Atma appeared in two previous incarnations before reaching its current state. The brothers Mcmanamon first breathed life into Atma while members of Insomnia, a band which enjoyed a large amount of local success. At first Atma was visibly a side project with friends Scott Lynch (Vocals) Paul Courage (Bass) and William Pacheco (Guitar) drafted in to aid the brothers in making something of material which had fallen by the wayside due to the lax work ethic in their current band. However from the get go Atma's first incarnation fell into the same pitfalls as Insomnia with songs taking a more humorous and haphazard shape. Eventually the groups first live performance left each of the members so disenfranchised that they went their seperate ways. Atma then took on a life of its own, completely severed from its original founding members (Clifton(Drums) and Wayne(Guitar)) However this grouping of Scott, Paul and William also came purely from mutual friendships and a haphazard sense that they would somehow blurt out amazing music. The band soon felt the lack of the driving force that was the brothers Mcmanamon. After a very short period this new incarnation of Atma fell to pieces without any real hope of resolution. Social divides soon saw former guitarist William Pacheco extradited from the other former members social circle and saw a new bond emerge between the remaining members of Atma's first incarnation. A mutual appreciation of all things musical as well as an almost uniform musical sensibility soon saw these remaining members reform Atma in its current state.

Primus never actually split up,but since their last release,Claypool has written a novel, written and directed a film and recorded and toured with Oysterhead,Colonel Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade,Colonel Clayool's Bucket of Bernie Brains(with -oh yes- Buckethead) and is currently(STILL!) touring in support of his first solo album "Of Whales and Woe."He also appears on five songs on Adrian Belew's Side One and Side Three albums with none other than Mr.Danny Carey of TOOL (yes it happened,it's actually better than you would think, incredibly).Larry Lalonde is touring with Serj Tankien's Flying Cunts of Chaos.Giving Birth To A Stone was reissued some years ago,but I can't find it anywhere either. So sorry, can't help you there....wait,did I just type all that......HAHA
No,I missed the TOOL gig.I went to see Primus instead, which i think was a good idea because it's looking more and more like that was their last tour. And they had enourmous astronauts.Claypool is a genius.
