Born in New Orleans Louisiana, but raised on welfare in the ghettos of the Bay Area,California, Cali Rich has struggled financially, mentally, physically and emotionally since early childhood. And the struggle continues today. He remembers sleeping in the streets with his family when first coming to Cali. Coping with poverty and disadvantage was never easy. Inspired by the words and struggle of a caring, loving, determined and confident mother like your own, Rich did the most appropriate thing under the circumstances: Adapt and persevere through whatever hint of adversity that presented itself. Rich found music with a small keyboard around the age of 7 and always listened to the raps of local artists over the radio. Songwriting, beat-making and audio production didn't come into his life until the age of 16 when a middle school friend taught him how to "flow" and another introduced him to FL Studio. Since then he has fell in love with music and has always made time to songwrite (even while being a full-time college student with 3 jobs) and produce like his life depended on it. In actuality, he feels like his life does significantly depend on music. Or at least the life of his family who he would give the world to. He will never give up on his love and ambition for music no matter how many times failure shows its teasing face. When one loves a thing, that thing is a priority in one's life. Passion never dies. 20 years of age, he now attends a 4-yr University in the Bay Area through the blessing of grants and loans since his family couldn't make a contribution to his pursuit of an education. He will always keep his options open, but will never place music on the back burner. The love is too strong. Every piece of music is self-produced from the beat to the songwriting and audio engineering. Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to this story. It is well appreciated.
