| WutDatIzz y'all???,Stephen"Stedeev"LaMar was born August 29, (that's right, I'm a Virgo so that means I'm observent and i can see you with my eyes closed)and raised in "The FilthyRich"...Richmond, Cali(Bay Area). The youngest of three children born to Southern parents, I learned at an early age that I had a fascination with muzik. Growing up in church, I would always gravitate to the choir and musicians. It would always amaze me how they could pick up different instruments and create beautiful sounds that blended well together.
The sounds you hear from Stedeev are his own. Known for his pounding drum kicks and laid back melodies, I try to stay away from samples, I feel it takes away from the true creativity of producers (its ez to make a hit from someone else's hit). Every sound you hear, comes from the weird mind and hands of Stedeev.
The owner of BayBigg-FilthyRich Productionz based out of Richmond, Cali. If Stedeev's style sounds unorthodox here's why. I have never had any formal training in the art of making muzik. Nobody has ever sat me down and explained to me "this is how you do this and that"...I feel like i have an ear for muzik, so I taught myself...It's in my blood (tell ya'll about that on a later date)...Wut Dat Izz big cuzn???...Those who know me, always commented on the way I could follow the melody of a song even while listening to the song for the first time...I can't even explain it!!
I grew up listening to all genres of muzik, but it was the bangin beats and the storytelling of rap muzik in its beginning days that got me hooked. I grew up listening to Too Short, Mac Dre, E-40, N.W.A., Ice-T, 2 Live Crew, Run D.M.C., Public Enemy, & L.L. Cool J when he was "BAD"...True, I started late in the game, but I was disgusted by the state of muzik of today. Nobody is willing to step out the box and make good meaningful muzik nowadays. Too many copycats in the game, you know the ("He did it, so imma do it, type of artists") scared to do they own thang!!... |
