Emerging out of the NoHo Arts District in Los Angeles, California is Vokee, a musical collective founded in 2005 by original “System of a Down” drummer Ontronik “Andy” Khachaturian. The goal was to find the missing pieces of what would be a breakthrough rock band with a unique sound stemming from the underground electro-rock culture. Vokee members include: Ontronik (vocals), Colby Mote (guitar), Tedd Wenri (bass), Peter Clark (drums) and DJ Brian Vasquez. This union would allow Ontronik to showcase his skills as a front man and bring his own creative twist to the table. This, in conjunction with his creative counterparts, crashes into a beautiful disaster of sound and rhythm, which separates Vokee from the mass of other bands in Los Angeles.
Though no band appreciates being compared or referred to as a “sounds like”, you can definitely feel the effects of a wide palette of influences which compliments the slightly heavy yet seamlessly melodic statement Vokee brings to the stage. “If a person is willing to let go of pre-existing notions of a band and the band is doing something true to itself, then all sides win." says Ontronik about the sonic culmination that is Vokee.
Moving fast in ’07 making a strong presence playing shows at long time City of Angels landmarks such as The Roxy, The Knitting Factory, The Keyclub, The El Rey Theatre and The Whiskey a Go-Go, Vokee released several independent recordings and a music video for their song “Angels” (available at www.myspace.com/vokee and YouTube). The latest single “Burn” can also be heard on the KROQ Locals Only show as well as the recent remix of “Angels” on their Myspace page. The band is currently working on their first full-length recording with a projected release date set for early ’08.
Vokee’s live performance cannot be forgotten, instead it instantly deems you unable to stay in your seat - the energy they exude is contagious! Just ask their fans - you will see them at every show supporting a band with a fresh perspective on molding sound into music. In looking at the “big picture” one can easily see what Vokee represents as a whole: visceral, artistic expression and cultural diversity, a great combination for any band.

Thanks for the invite, I'm honored. This is great, I wish I could go to LA to see you on any of those classic venues. Most great bands miss out Gothenburg, Sweden on their Euro tours and so will probably you do to if you ever cross the pond. So my only hope is that I sometime in the future manage to go visit friends and relatives in California to get dose of what's going on there.../Hasse
